  3.4 Miscellaneous customs provisions
  Consignments not exceeding £15 in value, except for alcoholic or tobacco products, are admitted free of export duty and VAT.
  Private gifts of an occasional nature intended for the personal or family use of the addressee are admitted free of duty and VAT up to a value of £36 provided the following quantity limits are not exceeded:
  – Alcoholic beverages: 1 litre spirits or 1 litre sparkling/fortified wine plus 2 litres still wine.
  – Perfume: 50 grammes perfumed spirit or 0.25 litres toilet water.
  – Tobacco products: 50 cigarettes or 25 cigarillos or 10 cigars or 50 grammes tobacco.
  A "flat rate" of import duty (10%) is applied to consignments of a value of £140 or less if this rate is favourable to the importer.
