  "During January 27-30 we’re updating Origin’s chat service. Chat will still be available during this time, but Origin Beta players will not be able to see and interact with non-Beta players. If you want to continue chatting with your friends during this time, you can opt-in/out of the Origin Beta as follows:

  While in the client, select Origin -> Application Settings
  In the Application tab, scroll down and turn on/off Participate in Origin client betas
  Selecting Origin -> Exit, and restart Origin for the changes to take effect

  With this update we’re also able to deliver a long-requested chat feature – stay tuned for more info!"
